To the Media...a Suggestion.

I hate watching the news. For two reason mostly- it’s biased and depressing.
I’m not going to talk about the biased part..yet.
In these times, so many people are depressed- and the number of depressed people only keeps going up. Turn on your news channel, and you’ll probably hear about deaths and turmoil all around the world. Plane crashes, bombings, if it’s a horrible event or accident you’ll hear about it.
You rarely hear anything positive, or uplifting. There are few news channels that tell these stories, perhaps simply because there is a lot of negative news to tell. This isn’t true for all news, I remember hearing a story about a blind man teaching and being accepted eventually into his workplace after hiding his disability for such a long time for fear of being fired. Those types of stories are also important to tell. The media should at least tell a few happy and uplifting stories- to remind people that overall, the world’s not that horrible of a place.
However, it’s also important to tell all the negative events too and to inform the viewers of what is happening in the world- so perhaps, they just don’t have the time and finances to make a story of something happy. They’re spending all their time on recent, big events- which tend to be negative (not all the time.)
I just think it would help a lot of people over time if they were to say a few uplifting, or even just interesting-unbiased stories. They might even be able to get new viewers, which is really what a lot of them are after.
